1. Free Consultation First we meet either in person, by phone or email. We ask you a lot of questions about your business and your goals for your website (See our list here). We talk about what kind of content you have and decide on the best type of website to meet your needs. We talk budget and can often make suggestions to save you money. For example, before advising a client that they will need custom programming, we will search for pre-built scripts that can be customized to meet your needs. Our goal is to build you the site that you need at a price that you will like.
2. Design Quote. After reviewing your site requirements, content and design preferences, we create a design quote for your site where we outline the timeline and cost. You approve and sign off on the project. We collect half of the design fee and the work begins.
3. Collection of Content We ask you to provide all the content for your site before we begin designing. Content includes all text, images, logos and multimedia. For storefronts, we need all your product info and photos.
4. Design Phase We begin designing the site interface "the look". For Business Pro Sites, you have already chosen a pre-designed template, so this phase is complete. For custom sites, we provide you with anywhere from 1-3 mockups. A mockup is a Photoshop (image) file that shows the look of the home page and one content page with filler text in the site. You review the mockup(s) and we make any necessary changes. Once we have finalized the design look, we begin production.
5. Production and Programming Phase Now, we take the photoshop mockup and translate it into the images, stylesheets, php and html files that will be read by the web browsers. If your site requires custom programming, we hand these tasks off to our programmer who writes this code and then we integrate it into your site. If there is substantial programming needed, we start this off during the design phase. For Business Pro Sites, we now customize your template with your content. As we go along, we add in meta tags, image tags and necessary keyword text to help your site get a better search engine ranking. After the site is completed, we test the site on multiple browsers and OS platforms.
6. Client Review We upload your site onto our client production server and send you a URL to demo the site.
7. Final Tweaks We make any final tweaks and edits based on your feedback.
8. Final Payment Due We require final payment of the balance due upon completion of the site.
9. Site goes Live We upload site to your server and test for broken links. Site goes live.
10. Training and/or Updates We can either train someone on your staff to update the site yourself (if using a CMS) or we can set you up on one of our web update packages.
